Coach
Michael Nekic
Michael’s CrossFit journey began in 2013. The variety, challenge and camaraderie got him hooked. His favourite workouts seem simple but leave you flat on your back or are long, mental grinds. Michael works out at 6:00am and coaches morning classes. Coaching since 2015, he believes it’s a gift to play a part in a person’s fitness journey, wants to make each class the best hour of a person’s day, and enjoys applying his keen eye for detail and drilling technique so members can get the most out of themselves during their workout. Michael’s advice to anyone thinking about CrossFit is you don’t need to be fit to start. He lives by the saying: “CrossFit is not for everyone, but it is for anyone. The needs of Olympians and grandparents differ by degree, not kind.”
Outside the gym, Michael is a husband and a father. He enjoys spending quality time with family, training his German Shepherd, carpentry, woodworking projects, and Formula one. He works in advertising from 9-5.
Proudest moment: Bringing his daughter home for the first time.
Favourite CrossFit movement/Goals: Clean and Jerks, Rope Climbs, Goal: 100 unbroken double-unders.
